Derriford Hospital, Plymouth

Hello, We got a ticket yesterday from APCOA at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth after I had to recieve emergency treatment in the A+E department. We were told that it was fine to leave the car in the drop off zone due to the nature of the injury, and the treatment required. We were about to prepare a letter of appeal when I saw this thread, however, I didn't see Derriford listed so don't want to ignore it if it is genuine. I think it is totally out of order "fining" people who require emergency treatment at a hospital. The fine is for £70 but is discounted to £30 if paid within 14 days. Any help and advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi william0,
Welcome to MSE :hello:
I've moved your post out of the "What To Expect" thread as that is only for direct discussion and addition to our collection of PPC letterchains.
APCOA can be treated as any other PPC - unless they can prove that you caused £70 of loss/damage they won't have a hope of winning in court. That's why they never take cases to court and instead write harassing letters to scare people into paying up. I suggest you file the letters away and ignore them until they go away. None of the cases in our "What To Expect" thread have been taken to court yet - which is strange given how strong a case the parking companies seem to think they have
