BT closed account nightmare

Anyone else had issues with BT complaints dept? I sent a letter in over a month ago, haven't had a response!
Basically I moved house and closed my account, paying in full. I redirected my post for 3 months just in case there were any loose ends to tie up and didn't get any correspondence from BT in this time. Then a few months down the line, I started getting letters from collection companies on behalf of BT. I contacted BT straight away by phone, they said I owed some money for calls (am happy to pay) and also a £50 cancellation charge (not happy to pay as they didn't tell me about this - it would have been cheaper for me to see out my 12 month contract than cancel and get the fine). They said they would get back to me and didn't; so I wrote them a polite letter asking for a new bill - got no response. In the meantime I am literally being harassed by Wescot, a collections company, ringing my house and writing to me on a weekly basis. If I wanted to pay what they are asking for (which on principle I don't want to, but I'm tempted, as this company is stressing me out so much), I haven't even been given the chance to, as the first I heard was from this collection company and BT have not sent me anything since! I apparently owe money but have no bill to pay!
I have just written them another letter but no holding out much hope.
Any advice??
Sarah

Go to the DebtFreeWannabes section of the forums and look for the 'Prove it' letter. It is a bit wordy and could perhaps do with trimming down. Adopt the stance that you have paid your final bill and you owe nothing until they prove their case with an itemised bill. Send this letter to Westcot. And send a letter to BT requesting a final statement. Keep copies.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
