You dont say how much you owe or how old the debt is. Is it just the latest bill you have not paid or do you owe money from previous bills?
The supplier can force you to have a prepayment meter and if they have to obtain a warrant to fit one this will be added to your debt. Once this has been fitted it will be a case of 'dont pay dont get'.

About a year ago a large scale survey was conducted to see the order of priority in which people paid their bills. Gas/Elec/Water came well down the list (at least 6th or 7th I think) behind mobile phones and Sky/cable TV all of which are none essential so you can see why suppliers may now be taking a harder line of customer who dont pay on time.

Whatever the reason, there is no excuse for a supplier to speak to their customers in a derogatory manner. It certainly won't help the supplier get their money any faster.

It appears to me this particular telephonist requires more training. Contact EDF via their official complaints procedure to alert them to this matter.

I would add though that you don't get billed every 4 months; it's every three months (ie: once a quarter). That may have gone towards the member of staff not accepting your offer.

What do you think your child's benefits are for? Food and shelter and education. What do YOU want to spend them on? What HAVE you been spending them on for the last four months? It is YOU who is the mobster who is misusing your son's entitlement.
