Parking Fine - Should I Reply

Hi,
I received a parking fine last weekend for not displaying a ticket. This was correct but I had to go get change and have written to the company (using your template) saying I will not pay due to mitigating circumstances and as the fine in disproportionate as the parking is £4 for 4 hours and the fine is £50.
My letter said I would not enter into correspondence until they have addressed my issues. They have replied and asked for my ticket and fine notice (which they should have a copy of). Is this just a scam by them to get me into a conversation? I guess I should just ignore them until they answer my points.
I have noticed on the ticket that they have got the car registration correct but the model wrong - does this invalidate the ticket and if so should I point this out?
Sorry for all the questions, hopefully someone can help.
Cheers

When you do get a fine (council/police) then definitely sort it. As you can only get a bit of paper from private parking companies then its quite safe to ignore them, ignore them a bit more etc. You'll have to ignore them about 6 times then they go away.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

I guess in the unlikely case of it going to court I could claim they haven't responded to my letter correctly as I asked them to.

It won't go to Court - see Watchdog tonight as I think they are mentioning PPC scammers again.
We already have a link on one of the sticky threads at the top of this board to a youtube clip of the last time Watchdog covered it just a few months ago. They had a legal expert showing people they could and should make any such ticket into a paper aeroplane.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

They have just said on Watchdog that they can't advise you whether you should pay or not, you should see a solicitor. A bit different to the paper aeroplane advice.0

They can't say because they don't have the ticket in front of them, say it was from the council or police and they just told them to ignore it, they would be in up to their necks in the brown stuff.
The advice from the first programme still applies!Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
My son,who was driving my husband's car, was given a parking ticket by Da Vere for parking in a private car park belonging to a friend while he made a brief visit.
Stupidly he rang them the following day so in the court papers it states-
A telephone call was received by us from the defendant on the 22nd April2010.
he explained that he was viewing a flat to buy.He was asked which flat .He could not remember. He said he had been viewing it with an estate agent.
When asked he could not remember which estate agent. We said we would not cancel the parking charges. No further response was ever received.
We did receive the letters but ignored them as we did not think they would take it any further.
He did not say who he was so would it be worth while my husband saying my son was driving or would that just delay the inevitable.0 -

Are saying that you have received actual court papers? Or just a letter saying that they may go to court? What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
