NHS: Does this make sense?

When some nurses left out ward we were told that they will not be replaced. Nurses are moved from one area to plug the gap, hence leaving the gap from the area they moved from.

But recently they have appointed a clerical manager (band 7) to support the present clerical manager (also band 7) making overall number of managers (band 7-8b) 9 in one small speciality within large NHS trust.

More, there are nurmerouse clerical staffs on the shop floor, surfing the net all day, and when the doctor asks them to put more paper in patient's notes, the answer from them is "it is not our job" we only do reception job.

Whilst clerical staffs are valuable memebers, i cannot understand the system they work in.

Does this make sense?

It doesn't make sense to have more chiefs than indians in any business, but that's invariably what happens. As a society, we are so focused on performance and targets that we create a whole industry of jobs that measure performance and suggest improvements whilst contributing nothing to the actual job.

Is the new clerical manager only supporting that one manager or several?

Is it a job shadow/handover that will only last a few weeks or a new job share?
  • Ridiculous..... At our hospital all Bank nurses are being made redundant......Too many chiefs not enough indians...
