bt contract?

Hi - Ex got BT (in my name) on a high BB package and home phone. Currently costs me £46 a month with a net phone (that i dont use!) I do use BB but not enough to qualify the high package (ex used it for work)

Ex moved out a while ago and i rang BT who said i had to keep the package

Is this correct? Any help on getting it lowered?

Thanks

Me

He may have been in contract.

    You're not.

However, just refusing to pay may well result in you being totally cut off. Try calling again until you reach a BT agent in the U.K. (I find the Indians stick to their script and have no perception of empathy) with whom you can 'connect'.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. • he put the bill in my name (he was badly in debt and bill comes out of my bank) so its me that seems to have the contract.

I dont mind keeping the phone and net - just want a lower package but theyre refusing

    Sorry, I misunderstood.

OK, I take it they are saying you have to continue with what you have now because you're still in contract. You need to establish when that contract ends and how much you'd have to pay for changing now to (say) BT Total Broadband Option 1.

It's a question of establishing a rapport with whoever you speak to and you may be best trying again (and again if necesary) until you get the feeling you have that.

Why not just explain what you have on here? For instance, you appreciate you're in a contract - that's because of 'him' and he's gone now - and you're looking to reduce your broadband to suit your needs and to reduce the cost at the same time.
