Hello I am have issues trying to remotely access my work computer from my girlfriends house.
Ok I have a wireless laptop and when at home I connect to the internet through a belkin wireless router and use a bespoke software program to remotely access my work computer and whist at home the connection works everytime.
When I go to my girlfriends house using the same laptop using same configurations it says it cannot connect to the IP address which works at my house, I know this becuse when I went home I did not change any setting and it connected with no problems so I am back at my girlfriends now and just tried to connect again with the same settings as at home same software config same IP same laptop and the only thing that is different is the wireless router my girlfriends being the BUFFALO AIRSTATION.
I have logged into the admin for the router to see if the was any ovbious firewalls etc, but the security is set to low as there is no OFF option and there is no other ovbious solution to my problem, hence this post.
Do I have to manually imput the IP so my my girlfriends wireless router will allow the direct IP connection?
All hellful posts will be thanked

What is the bespoke application?
Do you use a vpn? (reducing the mtu to 1400 can help)
Does it work wired?
Are the isp's different?
Did anyone at work set this up for you?
Do you use encryption on either router?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Maybe the work computer is configured to allow connections only from your home IP address; your GF's home has a different IP address. Try using her router in your home to see if the config on that is the problem.
Do you access your work computer via a VPN?

no its not a VPN, ISPs do change I am on NTL and MY GF is on BT.
neither router use encryption, the only difference is router and ISP.
Work will allow any conection. I have set this up myself to my workstation as it is my company with one workstation.0 -
