Hi
We have a boiler/tank which is about 17 years old, its been slightly leaking and is totally inefficient, the tank holds 180 litres and will need to be replaced as we have been told in the past its an "odd" style installation - when the scrappage shceme came out the boiler turned out to be in the X rating category - only about 65% efficient. What I would like to know is do EON do like an install now and then pay for say 5 or 7 or even longer period through say the Gas/Elec bill - or if any one else knows anymore that do pls advice needed now, We have been advised in the past that to replace the boiler and tank and re-do pipes it would be around 4k - and 4k I just aint got at the moment! so need another easier pay route - any advice warmly rec'd (excuse pun)

No one is going to give you 7 years or longer interest free credit to replace a boiler. Your best option is to take out a personal loan if necessary and then employ a local independent RGI to do the work. £4K seems hugely OTT for a boiler and tank replacement, so you would be advised to seek revised quotations from several local RGI's.
But if you give more details of the work required, possibly someone can give you an approx idea of what it should cost.
    Who quoted you £4k?

I would suggest you shop around for the best deal on a new boiler and separately shop around for the best loan to fund it if necessary.

You might even be able to add the cost to your mortgage if you want to repay over a really long period.

Do you qualify for any Warmfront grants? If not and you are over 60 and an owner-occupier or private tenant, you can still get an automatic £300 grant which is not means tested.

    Hi SALOPMAN,

E.ON do offer boiler installation in most areas, but I don't know of they will offer a payment plan for this.

The best thing to do would be to contact E.ON for a quote, also as Premier says shop around other installers as well to get the best deal.
