Insureme4 holiday cover. Beware!

Used this company for a single trip holiday cover after seeing the details on Martins site. We had an accident on holiday with a video camera which resulted in it being damaged.
Just been informed by the claims dept for Insureme4 that the small print says that the maximum cover for any one item/valuable is £100 minus your excess of £65.

So basically the maximum you can claim is £35 for any valuable. Hardly worth the bother!
I would not recommend this company and suggest it is not worthy of prominences on Martin’s main site.

Would be interested to know exactly how the excess on your policy is applied, according to the wording. It makes a difference whether the excess is applied to the "loss" (in this case the cost of repairing the camera) or the "claim" (in this case the policy limit). It had been the case that excesses were deducted from the actual agreed loss and before the application of any policy limitations. Maybe this is another example of where the insurers have shafted their customers - again.

Can’t find the reference to loss or claim..
I accept that if I had read all the small print I would have been fully aware of the condition, I just feel duped because the policy summary quotes £200 and the actual allowable claim is only £35. It caught me by surprise as it seems to be below reasonable expectations.
