no deductions from JSA?

hi,

I have been claiming contributions based JSA since July. I get £65 per week. I have just started part time work and was paid (actually received in my bank account) £50 in my last signing period, which I declared.

I was expecting this to be deducted from my JSA but when I checked I got the full £130 for 2 weeks.

Is this correct? If not, will I have to pay back any money?

thanks in advance.

  • Your money will be reduced by £45 (1st £5 waived) when the benefit delivery centre catch up with the paperwork. Hope you get more hours offered to you or even better, you get a full time post.

Expect to pay it back, so don't spend the £45 - £50.
And tell them quickly if your part time work stops paying you or pays you less, so they can adjust the payout in your favour.

Thanks. This is what I thought happened. I wish they were competent enough to apply it immediately. And the officer I spoke to sound I didn't get to keep my £5. It doesn't help when the people working there don't know what they're doing.
