Hi

Just bought myself a Acer Aspire netbook, I want to make a factory back up cd,but as the netbook does not come with one, is there any other way to make a copy? I did stick my usb in but did not recongise it. I do not want to buy a external drive as I do not intend using a cd drive on the netbook over the long term.

shoud say I do have a laptop and desktop, is there a way I could connect to that and use the cd drive off that?

sorry don't have an answer but thought I'd bump it up as i'd be interested in the answer. My Oh bought me an Acer inspire laptop last christmas and there was no disc with this either. at one point a couple of months after it was bought it was asking me to reboot using some disc or other and i thought where is it? Next time i switched the laptop back on it was fine but still wondering if it should have come with a disc.

very few computers/laptops come with seperate back up disc, they all ask you to create from the computer. my last acer laptop had a problem and I tried to use the CD but it did not work, appears to not have burn the back up onto cd and the recovery partion ended up getting wiped. I am lucky that my BIL is a computer man and got me a copy of vista that I could load and use my own registeration key.

usually the recovery options just 'burn' it to a usb instead of CD.

if it has win7 then you can create a 'system image' (this won't backup the hidden partition but it will backup the whole OS that you can restore exactly like the hidden partition works) type in backup in the start menu, and select 'backup and restore' then in the left side select 'create system image' and also create a 'system restore disc'

got the pragon download, have had to create ports, but the sticking point is the router, I got the router off freecycle so do not have any instructions so cannot open to put the ports into.

so I am stuck.

I am not getting that option and yes it is windows 7. I am not worried about the operating system as my BIL runs his own company and I know I could get a copy

:j got the pargaon to work finally, just about gave up and nearly bought an external dvd writer, so have backed and now in the process of making a factory back up. Happy days :j
