Has anyone had a successful experience with Halfords/SHINE?

I was about to take my car to them for a quote for bumper scrapes and then saw this forum. (Thought I would try Shine direct if that's who Halfords use.) Seemed a bit strange that you take the car to them for a quote by Halfords staff first.

Alternatively are there any decent reasonably priced companies out there that will do the job - South London area? Been quoted £250 + VAT which seemed a lot.
  • For what it's worth I wouldn't gamble on Shine! direct. Halfords were really only part of the problem for me. I'd steer well clear! In the end I went with Chipsaway & they done an excellent job & for less than Halfords had originally incorrectly quoted! That having been said you need to be aware that they are a franchise operation & therefore only as good as the local franchisee.

After my disastrous experience with Halfords I promised I would not go back to them for anything. I thought that this was a tough ask as I was always in there for one thing or another. The last few months have taught me that I can almost always get what I need elsewhere at a lower cost.
  • you can pretty much count on halfrauds to muck up get wrong and fffffaaaaaarrrrt you about, i wouldnt banmk on anything provided by or attached to their franchise to be a smooth ride only thing you CAN bank on is that it will cost double than any other motor factor or independant.
