No there's not. Unfortunately they don't have to accept a return unless it's faulty.

Leave it a couple of weeks and ask him if he wants a netbook for Christmas. :D

Did you buy it online or in a shop?

If you bought it online you CAN RETURN IT FOR A REFUND under the Distance Selling Regulations, however if you bought it in a shop, you can't.

Only if rejected with seven days of receiving the item.

No right to return when physically brought form a store.

Fit a set of wheels to the laptop and paint a stripe down the side.
  • Same rule as I gave about fammable money on another post, though if you bought from a website DSR may be available, if this is within 7 days. Goods must be unused and in original packaging.

Though if the software has been used, then this does invalidate your rights to return such goods.

If you purchased from a shop, unless the goods are faulty or not fit for purpose, then you have no right of return, excepting the goodwill of the store.

You could try it on ebay but you may have to accept a hit on the price it finally goes for
