Question about "Post To: United Kingdom"

Please excuse what might be a stupid question, but I have only just joined ebay and made my first sale (!) for the massive amount of 99p

I had 'Post to: United Kingdom' on my listing and I thought that meant I had restricted the listing to UK buyers only and so set the postage costs accordingly. However the buyer is in the Republic of Ireland and so postage to there is more, and especially recorded delivery (international signed for), not 74p but £4+.

I have looked everywhere I can think of on the ebay site and can't figure out what I did wrong. Any ideas please? Don't want to be caught out again!

I really would question though why you are using recorded and signed for on a 99p item? All standard mail is covered for loss up to £41. Standard mail includes 1st, 2nd, recorded and airmail.

I've just had the exact same problem sending to ROI - thought I was only set for Uk bidders. I was told to explain to the buyer that the postage costs were for UK and to ask them to pay for the difference in posting. Hope that helps

lol just had the opposite problem.

Buyer from ROI could not bid and while I was happy to send ebay would not let change postage options on listing this close to end. They explained to me how I could change my site preferences to allow them to bid and it worked!

I found as the address was outside the UK Ebay did not set the amount of postage on the invoice and I filled it in.

I am surprised a bidder did not ask you how much postage was before bidding as this was the first thing I was asked by buyer before they bid.
