I've noticed that sometimes, when i'm connected to the internet but not actually doing anything, the b/band connection goes off .
I haven't noticed it before but it definitely dropped three times today, and i had to reconnect.
Could it be one of my settings??if so,which one. I can't see anything obviously wrong.
Using XP.
Anyone help please??

If you don't have a router,,
IE, Tools, Internet options, connection, select your isp, settings, advanced., uncheck Disconnect if Idle for 20 minutes.
Click OK .Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -

Thanks-its a point that i'd not considered-I did think that maybe i'd used too much b/band time-but I don't think my usage is high enough.
I do know that our village is quite small and we all want b/band,so the idea of being cut off when you're on idle makes sense--but can bt do this legally-,I mean?---Why should I have to reconnect all the time,if its their problem??----They already charge too much for too little as far as I can see.;)0 -

My ISP is now orange who took over wanadoo some time ago---forgive my ignorance--but what is "gain" on the line and how will it affect the b/band connection in terms of time??:o
As a printer I only know the how and why of dot gain:eek:0 -
I should forget the reply from sickofhavingnomoney & ravenfire as they appear to be talking about dialup and not always on ADSL. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
