Want to change electricity supplier
but need a point in the right direction. I should have done this months ago but have now amassed almost £400 in arrears (which i cannot afford) due to me not changing supplier sooner. My electricity is supplied by british gas, and i am currently paying 22.083p per kWh. I've been in my house for 9 months and never given a proper reading, just been going off estimates they send me. I recently received a new estimate, so i finally took the time to read my meter and compare to my estimates. I was staggered to find a difference of almost 2000 units
:(:(
So, in summary, need to change supplier asap and bit of advice where to start
thanks for any help received

You won't be paying that much for all your electricity. Perhaps the tier1 rate, but not all of it.
Unless you go to ebico (who may not be the cheapest) then if a supplier doesn't have 2 tier pricing, they will hit you with their standing charges which will probably be even more.
You can compare prices using a comparison site, but you won't be able to change supplier until you've paid off the debt."Now to trolling as a concept. .... i've worked out the £400 debt on a rate of 22.083p per unit, so after ive used so much electricity, the lower rate will kick in? But because their estimates are too low, the 2nd rate not on bill? I've got a friend who will help with the debt so i can change straight away, just trying to find the cheapest companies is a bit confusingeverybody tries to understand art, why not try to understand the song of a bird - pablo picasso0

If you find using a comparison site difficult, some (e.g. energyhelpline) have a phone number to call and they'll do the whole thing and talk you through the options available.i've worked out the £400 debt on a rate of 22.083p per unit, so after ive used so much electricity, the lower rate will kick in?
