EON Expensive

Hi All

Finding Eon expensive for electric and never been able to move from them due to so called problems with our meter not being suitable for other suppliers in two properties now, we have a heat wise economy 10 worried about massive electric bills over the winter months as we have no gas.

Over the phone they tell me I have to get a electrician in at my cost to sort the wiring out and then paid Eon £50 for a new meter so we can go on another tariff.

Think carefully before making any revisions and seek the advice of a skilled electrician who will survey the property and current appliances, and inform you of any issues that may arise from revising the installation.

    Hi joebloggs

I'm afraid the advice given you over the phone is correct.

As I said in response to your other thread, Heatwise is wired directly into the water/heating circuits at properties. Changing the meter may have implications in these areas.

Therefore, as Premier says, it is always best to have a skilled electrician check things out before going down this route.

I can also confirm you will need to pay for the electrician and we will charge £50 to replace the meter if necessary.

On a more positive note, are you taking full advantage of the periods of cheaper off peak electricity which are part of your current set up? It may be savings can be made here.

Please let me know if you need any advice about your metering as will be happy to help.

Economy 10 is a "comfort tariff", not designed to be cheap, however; other suppliers aren't interested in offering it, so while you make think EON are expensive I can't imagine what you are comparing the tariff to?

Presumably you have some sort of storage heating? If you want to go to a dual rate tariff, like Economy 7, or even a single rate tariff, then yes, your wiring will need amending, hence, your cost.
