CC File late payment??

I'm having a little problem and wondered if anyone can give me the correct advise?

I missed a payment on my Barclay card (i always paid it off in full each month) and received a call about 2 days after the payment was due from them.
After a short conversion i was told that if i paid there and then the min amount no late payment would show on my credit file.I was away at the time but paid on my debit card in full there and then.

It comes to light when i did a credit check last week that a late payment does show on my account now.

I was told by Experian that this can be taken off my file if Barclay card agree that is what i was told at the time.
Can this be taken off/changed?

Barclay card are looking into it and have sort of admitted that some wording isn't right with what i was told and have now told me that they will fill a form to get this late payment removed,due to what i was told was totally incorrect.

What will show on my file instead of a late payment once this has been sorted?

I have no other late payments and does 1 late payment affect my rating?

Providing Barclaycard advise the CRA that payment was ontime then your report will show a 0 instead of a 1. The CRA will only change it if they're told to.

One late payment has a negliable effect.

Could be a '0', '?', or 'U' on Experian...
