Mis-sold PPI online applications

Hi everybody,
Hope someone can help.
I took out several loans and credit cards online between 2004 and 2007 and I had PPI on them. I did not knowingly ask for it and I am sure that in at least some of them I couldn't move on until I checked the tick box and on one I'm sure I didn't tick a box at all. I've read on the forums that some lenders used tactics such as pre-ticking the box or making it necessary to tick the box to proceed or even putting the t's&c's on a separate page which then timed out and made you start all over again.
I've also heard of people being refused refunds because it was an online application and they therefore chose to have it. I know this is not the case with me and I want to claim this money back.
Can anyone advise me which lenders had which practise in place during that timespan? My loans and cards were with, MBNA, EGG, Virgin and Barclaycard.

Many thanks.

    Hi and welcome

Check the below details on link for further info, and if you feel you have a case then give it a go, follow the guidelines on the link to the reclaiming....
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance

You always pursue the ones who sold and set up the policy from the start, by sending them the reclaiming questionnaire as shown on the above link - stage one of reclaiming.

Ask for further help if required, good luck.

  • Thanks mne2,

I'm pretty sure I've got a case with these agreements. Looking at some cases that have been rejected though, the principal reason needs to be correct otherwise it can be thrown out. If Egg (for example) had an online application that required you to tick the box before continuing then it would follow that all online applicants whilst they had that process in place would have a good claim for mis-selling.

My problem is I cannot remember exactly what happened during each application, only that I didn't knowingly ask for the PPI, I fear that without some supporting evidence (such as Egg's online application process at that time) my claim could be rejected out of hand.

    Hi
You could optionally request for your data on your account here if you want to.
They have 40 days to compy and send all they still hold on the account, this should give you an idea of how this was set up and sold to you when you taken this out.

There is a SAR template below link, if you request for this you enclose the payment of £10 cheque or postal order.

    Hope this helps.
