Best bank account for working in France for 6 months

Hi,

I am hoping to work a season in a ski chalet for 6 months in France, and my salary (meagre as it is!) will have to be paid into a UK bank account. As I will need to access this in France, what is the best banks account that wont charge me too much for withdrawing my money regularly abroad (ie. probably at least once a week).

I do have the nationwide flex account but understand that they are no longer offering that perk, so just trying to look at ways to minimise the fees I'll have to pay for withdrawing my money.

Many thanks

I have been looking into this for myself. Barclays says they wont charge you for cash withdrawals if you use a Global Alliance bank such as BNP in France but I haven't looked at the small print, yet.

But they still charge you for foreign exchange laoding fee (about 2.75% normally do not know about Barclays)

    1. The best you could do if you are in London Open a Current A/c with Metro Bank. or Alternatively Cumberland BS if you are living in one of their branch office whihc is mainly In North West

    2. Get Halifax Clarity Card which have APR 12.98%. It is a credit card and set up direct debit to clear the balance monthly. It is still cheaper than Barclays e.g. just about 1% interest rate per month.
