Gift vouchers on ebay

Just an observation. There are so many gift vouchers on ebay at the moment that are selling for more than the gift voucher is worth ie 50 gift voucher selling for 55.

I don't understand this at all!

considering the added risk of being scammed, rare but not impossible, you would need to make a good saving to make it worthwhile.
Or.... if they are planning to scam the buyer they can bid for any amount and claim non receipt...?

This comes up from time to time and there are a few possible reasons...

    - they might have a discount code from ebay/paypal so it's not actually costing them that much
    - they might have money from selling on ebay that they don't want to pass through their bank account so buy vouchers instead (eg if you're on benefits I believe it's a lot of paperwork to show that money came from ebay selling and not a job of some sort.)
    - they live in the middle of nowhere and can't get to a shop to buy the vouchers but want them for a present.

I can't remember the rest...I'm sure someone will be along. :p

Are vouchers excluded from Ebay Buyer Protection?

this exact thing is happening to me!!!, women bought my 50 next voucher, for 52, she said not to bother sending by recorded delivery as she is at work and cant sign for it, i posted from cardiff, to her address in london, told her i had done so, and if she didnt recieve it within 2 days to let me know so i can cancel the card as i kept the serial number. 19 later she has now put in a paypal refund case for the 52 pound, saying she hasnt recieved it, and theres nothing i can do. next have confirmed the card has been spent in croydon, where i sent it, yet ebay are saying i have to pay, so i'm 52 down, its horrible!!!

    1. Over £41 so if you put claim in with royal mail you won't get owt back i believe for using wrong postage
2.Soon as they said don't send recorded i'd have took a small hit and sent it recorded or better special, never mind, lesson learnt for you, just remember it so you don't get caught again

PS not all buyers are coniving bar stewards(apoligies to any bar stewards),so don't be too put off

Vouchers aren't covered standard mail anyway, only special will have covered that.

I am confused Ebay help saids retail gift cards are not covered by Buyer Protection and PP states something similar.
