Help finding out if my loan had PPI

Hi,
I had a loan with NatWest a few years back taken out in 2002 or 2003. After the loan was paid off I got rid of all the paperwork.
How do I find out if I had PPI? I know I'll need to contact my bank but I can't seen to find any template letters I can send asking for the info.
Thanks for your help

There is a SAR template here or you could just ask for the agreements. They do not have to provide them though if they are closed so maybe the SAR is better.
