Section 75 - would a lost concert ticket be a valid claim?

Hi all,

Sorry if this question is a very basic one (while I've surfed the site for a while, I'm new to the whole credit card area)!

I've managed to lose a pair of Guns and Roses tickets this morning for tonights concert at the 02. While I'm about to go bash the box office on the head to see if I can get reprints (doubtful!) I wondered if this would be covered by a Section 75 claim?

I'm fairly sure due to the fact I lost the tickets myself rather than them getting lost in the mail that I wouldn't be, but I just wanted to check with the experts :)

Thanks in advance, and again apologies for such a basic question.

  • Nope.

But on the plus side, Guns 'n' Roses ain't what they used to be.

I work at an arena, you can request duplicates, if you booked them through an agency not the arena itself you have to go through them for the request.
It's £2 a ticket duplicate fee and you can collect them from door time.

However standing tickets cannot be duplicated, if it is lost, damaged or stolen a new ticket would need to be purchased.

That's the policy at my arena anyway!

"For section 75 to apply, certain conditions must be met.
the cash price of the goods or services must be more than £100 and not more than £30,000.......................................
Section 75 does not, in itself, provide grounds for a claim against a supplier. Customers must have a valid claim of breach of contract or misrepresentation under other law, such as the Sale of Goods Act or the Misrepresentation Act. If they do, then they have a like claim against the card provider for the full amount of the claim"

Exactly, S75 deals with breach of contract. Losing tockets does not breach any contract with the merchant
