Debenhams Store Card - (Santander) statement problems

Options
Hi,

My girlfiend recently got a debenhams store card as we were buying a bit of new kitchen stuff in their recent sale and got the extra 10% off

The statement came through Monday 11th Oct. I've just gone to pay it off in full. When I've noticed the statement dated 13 Sept and a payment due date 8th Oct!! (3 days before we actually got teh statement).

Problem is, my girlfriend is away until November and had asked me to deal with it.

Have tried to ring the card service provider (Santander). 1st of all got through to someone in India/Pakistan, who wouldn't deal with me due to security, I can accept that, rules are rules. I asked to be put through to someone who could asure me if I made payment in full today, we would not not get charged a late fee. I got transferred and wait 40mins in the queue....where the lines just gone dead and hung up!...Now I'm seething:mad:

40 mins @ 10p a minute and now I have to phone back....

anyideas on where to go with this?

  • Go into store, if you can't get through on the phone. You can pay at the till (they got rid of customer services a few years back) - ask how quickly it will be credited.

But I'd probably keep trying on the phone. Alternatively try head office and ask to speak to customer services - if you make a point of being annoyed, they will hopefully get Santander to contact you (or your girlfirend).
  • Have managed to get the card paid...after wasting an hr of my day! Will now probably be charged late fee's plus the £6+ is cost me on the phone!.

Have got details, so will look to get my girlfriend to follow it up when she's back... have made sure calls were recorded and got the name of the person I spoke with.

Alot of bad press for Santander lately....here's one more for the post bag!

if you pay cash in store then you get it credited same day. However if its the first statement get her to ring up and moan, we did and the £12 was refunded
