Current experiences with Santander (inc A&L) Faster Payments?

What is the current state of play? How many multiple payments (and of what amounts) to the same accounts are possible now?

I used them today, making faster payments from both A&L and Santander accounts. I made three repeat payments from Santander to the same account (is there any limit to the number of single payment requests?) and two payments - again to the same external account - from A&L. A&L used to baulk but now seems OK..

It appears that repeat payments (under the limit of £250) do now work. So what 'successes' have people had?

Major success for me is ditching them and moving to bank that does proper faster payments :beer:

They are behind in the times but as I understand it, their new faster payments system has been ok...

If you haven't heard anything about it. No news is good news...

I sent three payments on the same day, of £100 each, from my A&L account, to three separate accounts, all of which send and receive FPs.


The first payment, to First Direct, went by FP.
The second payment, to Halifax, went by FP.
The third payment, to another Halifax account (in a different name), went by BACS.

So I wouldn't ever *rely* on any payment from A&L going by FP, regardless of whether you've previously sent a FP to the receiving account.

I have made a payment today to a Co-op account - went by FP, paid a Halifax a/c went by BACS. Pay another A&L account goes into "Pending transactions" for 2 days before then xferring immediately ?????? How's that logical?????
