Hi all
I'm not sure this is going to make sense but here goes...
I am trying to put a website together for my Brothers company. The site is going great in 90% of its form, but I seem to have a certain problem cropping images...
Basically, we contacted his supplier and asked him for a copy of the images they have so we can input them on our website. So the supplier sent the 100 images. They are of White PVC doors on a sky Blue background. The Sky Blue background is so you can see the edges/surrounds of the White door against the White page. So, we set about about putting the doors on our site but they looked wrong when on the webpage because the overal width of the image includes this Sky Blue background to the left and right. So, I opened up an image in Paint.net and simply selected the door only with the rectangle select tool. At this point only the actual door is selected. Then I clicked crop image. So...Imagine the image was 600 wide. Of this image there is the door in the middle which is 200 wide. Each side of the door there is the Sky Blue border of 200 each side. I simply want to select the door in the middle of the image (200) and get rid of the 200 to the left and right of the door image. This should leave me with just the door. However, when I save and go back in, the door is positioned on the middle of the page with a border each side again.
Any help please peeps?

Hi
Thanks for your reply.
That seems to make a bit of sense except for the bit where you said 'reduce' the size of the image to that of the canvas/layer. Do you mean increase?
For example, if the layer is 1000 x 1000, do you mean I have to make the image 1000 x 1000?

Hi again
So, I downloaded GIMP.
I went to file, open and loaded the file into GIMP. There is my picture of my door in the middle of the screen. I have looked through layers but can't seem to find the option. I've tried cropping the image etc, but to no avail. I cropped it, saved it etc, but when I reopened the image in another program (Paint.net) it still had the borders each side.
Help! PLEASE0 -
try this, open your picture in paint
move your cursor up and down the right hand edge of the picture until you can see the middle resize point, click and hold down drag the edge to the required position and let go.
at the top of the page click on image then flip/rotate and do the same for all the other sides until you only have the portion of the original picture that you want. Save and try that0 -
You could always try Irfanview, very easy to use and for simple image manipulation like cropping it's a cinch: http://www.irfanview.com/0

LOL, you do realize there are resize bars on all four sides, you don't need to rotate the image four times to resize each side.goaliehammy wrote: »try this, open your picture in paint
