It is the way forward for my business looks more professional and customers keep making cheques out to my business name which means then I have to return them to get them re-written.0 -
You can have a business name without setting up a limited company. Which Banks have you tried so far? Anecdotally, if you're not looking for borrowing, it may be worth trying NatWest or Co-op.Gwlad heb iaith, gwlad heb galon0

Ive only tried the Abbey and they said no didn't want to try more as I know their search will show up on my credit file which is OK if they were then tosay yes but it will look bad if I try one bank after another. I will try the Co-op. I have a business name but not an account to match hence the return of cheques.0 -

Co-op I think will decline unless your credit record is squeaky clean. Please note my first post in this thread above. Please let me know if you want the company details. It worked for me, they got me a Lloyds TSB current account, with cheque book, online banking etc. The whole thing with ltd co cost £279.Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. I opened a halifax treasurers business account in the name of a LTD co. No credit checks are done. Just proof of company no with companies house and any directors addresses. You get a paying in book and that's it. No debit debits but it's an account. Watch out though this account is not known about much in branches and they will push you towards a royal bank of scotland business account - now this will involve credit checks! I just insisted my accountant wanted me to open an treasurers account only!0
