So can i use the bread flour and get just as good results? Thanks

bread flour has more gluten in it than plain does your recipie for muffins say plain flour and baking powder the reason I ask is sr flour is just plain flour with baking powder already added so I would use sr and about 1/2 or 3/4 of the baking powder from the recipie

Thanks mrs_mix. The recipe for the mufins say 275g plain flour and 1tsp bicarbonate of soda. The cookies are 175g plain flour and 1stp baking powder.0

I would put the same amount of bicarb in the muffins and 1/2 a tsp in the cookies and see how you go

Found enough plain for 1 batch of cookies, so will use the strong flour for some more and some muffins and let you know how i go. Thanks again.0

Hello!
I am attempting to make bread for the first time. Will self-raising flour do?!?! Every recipe says strong white flour but my corner shop doesn't sell that and really don't want to have to get a bus into town. I'm only making it for fun (to see if I can kind of thing). I want to do a pizza and a loaf if poss with SR flour...... help!0 -
Hi Lottie,
Strong white flour is best but I know some people use plain flour. I often use half strong and half plain with good results. I'm afraid that self raising won't work. I know this because I used it by mistake once and the bread was a disaster.
There's an earlier thread with more advice so I've added your question to it.
This thread may help too: Plain Flour??Same as strong bread flour for pizza bases??
