When does grass stop growing?

Can anyone tell me when I should stop cutting my grass, it is still growing but this cold weather has slowed it down but it makes it really hard to cut due to the amount of moisture its holding. Also what sort of length do i need to leave to last over winter?

Grass grows , ll other things being suitable, at about 5 degrees Celsius or above. Lawn cut length I can't help with...ours is a guess, and probably we put the lawn mower away a little too early. Not yet though, not here,...only problem is the lawn being dry enough on a day I'm not busy.0

The gardener at work today reckons one more cut in about 3 weeks time, then he'll be done for the winter. (Midlands) I cut mine other day, and going on last year will probably need to do it again unless it suddenly gets cold very quickly.
Although it's wet and not easy to cut, I find it easier to cut while a bit wet and keep it short as it dries out quicker rather than leave it to get too long and not get the mower through because it's sodden. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

I just keep cutting mine while we still get some dry weather and its not frosty on the ground.. I think I cut it in November last year and that cut lasted through till early April... although it was pretty long by then.. I tend to cut it weekly even if it doesn't really need it at this time of year as once it gets longer its really hard to cut#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

I made the mistake last year of doing my last cut in the middle of October. There as I know some people in the South were cutting their grass until the beginning of December.
Having bulbs in the grass with the late spring meant I had to go and buy a strimmer to strim it in April. It was the first time in years that crocuses were still around in mid-march.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

I've taken the chance to cut mine today. It'll probably be too wet to do again this year, so I reckon I'm done until spring. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0

Never. It always ruddy grows. I'm not really complaining, honest :-)
I do remember ringing my parents up one Christmas morning, to be told my dad had been out mowing the lawn. Is it any wonder my attitudes to Christmas are as cynical as they are - look how I was raised!!Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!0
