Hi my son's Acer Lap Top Just switched to blue screen, I was told to reboot it from XP disc, but he hasn't got the original setup disc will any XP disc restart the lap top.

yeah should be fine to get to the recovery console, then do a check disk (chkdsk) and fix bad sectors and files. Also try booting in safe mode and doing a chkdsk. When it blue screens it should tell you what the issue was at the top or the bottom of the screen, try resolving that issue in safe mode. If all else fails then you can rebuild the OS from the "random" XP disk but be aware you will lose all of the files on the laptop. Good luck0
