Might be less painful to pay the bank charges:rolleyes:
Back in my fistant now bank worker days there used to be such things as budget accounts. They had a notional limit udually of three months' paymrntd in of the annual extimated expenses, but if outgoings were irregular the manager just maked off any excess as approved and no charges were incurred apart from the interest. Do I presume such animals no longer exist, as a downside of allowing the computer to do i0 -
Wot the critics of Secure Homes/MoneyWay may not realise is that the monthly or weekly amount its customers pay comes with the option of sickness/accident and unemployment cover. Where else can you insure for 6.2% of your weekly/monthly committment against being off work for more than a fortnight or losing your job? In this day and age for me as a self employed sales rep 6.2% per month for my entire months direct debits is more than good value, does anybody else know of any other way of insuring all of their domestic outgoings if the need arose for possibly every domestic outgoing including the weekly shop if it were paid for with credit or charge card?0

Cannot just a usuall current account with an agreed overdraft do the job? A&L offer just 5.9%-7.9% EAR with Premier accounts. Nationwide's rate is below 10% ...
Apparently Nationwide have increased their authorised overdraft rate to 18.9%. (source: Financial Mail on Sunday 23/8/09).0 -

We bank with Lloyds TSB and they set up a bills account for us about 3 months ago and transfered all the DD's across etc.. It has really helped us control our finances. We have their Platinium account as we found we saved money on things like AA breakdown which is in their package so we do pay for our account but it's worth asking your bank if they have this facility - it might be a free service. Lots of banks are more savvy about helping people budget.Plan to PAD Everyday 2024Credit Card - £3662.99 (int free to 11/11/25) -PAD TotalsJan 2024 -0

Thanks to mrrk for resurrecting an ancient thread from 2006.
Funnily enough, Nationwide have had an authorised overdraft rate of 9.9% for ages until it has suddenly jumped to 18.9% on 1/6/09.0
