Fundraising for a preschool
Options
Hi i'm just wondering if anyone has any ideas for fundrasing for a pre school. We've had a lot of money stolen so really need the fundraising to work.
We do the usual fairs, raffles, etc but just wondered if there are any other ideas for us to make some money for our toys etc.
Thanks
Charlie

Have you looked into companies such as Yellow Moon or Scholastic books? Both companies send out catalogues (enough for each parent) so that the parent can place orders and you get a percentage of what the parents spend. You could look at doing a sponsored event (Toddle around a park etc.) How about an event evening for the parents. You could have a pamper evening (get in touch with someone like Virgin Vie or Bodyshop@home) or a cooking evening (try pampered chef or Jamie@home) then all you need to do is provde a venue and charge an entrance fee and do refreshments. You could do a nearly new sale and charge for people to have a table to sell their unwanted childrens items and charge an entrance fee.
Hope this helps.Debt Oct 2006 £42,215.21 at highest. Debt Today £0.000 -
Hi.
I am a Fundraiser for our local preschool and I have just organised a Monster Mat project. Google it if you have not heard of it before - but basically the children do a hand print or a drawing on a special drawing frame which is then sent into the company and can be made into a lovely selection of items. The Preschool made a small amount off each order.
We are also doing Skycycle where you get old clothes/shoes/bric a brac in bags from parents, then the company weigh it and you get paid per KG I think.
We are also organising a Quiz Nite and a Xmas Shopping fayre?
Hope that helps.0 -
Hi Charlie, I'm doing a fundraiser for a local charity in the new year and its a pretty easy one (as in not too much stress organising or outlay) so thought I'd share.
Now I'm in N.I but I'm sure there would be a chinese / restaurant near you that would do something similar.
Basically a very nice local chinese will do a banquet style dinner (midweek) and sell us tickets at a discounted rate as we are a charity. (which is very nice of them). So they do the 4 course meal for £15 and suggest we mark up to £22.50 or £25 - though we think to mark up to £20 is enough as it encourages people to go.
So basically you just sell your tickets, then once you have everyone there you can do things like auctions / raffles etc. As far as time, effort and organising goes its definately a lot easier than some and everyone loves a hassle free night out.
Its worth contacting your local restaurants to see if they would do something similar, they gain too as it can pack out their restaurant midweek whichh would otherwise have been half empty.0 -
How awful.
My son goes to 2 pre-schools and they do the following;-
Bags2School: bags of clothes etc for charity, receiving 40p per kilo ( - bags are filled by the families and brought in then collected by charity). Last one raised £240.
cant remember the name of the website but it operates like a cashback site and cashback earned goes to pre-school.
horseracing evening
sunflower growing competition, £1 to enter for 2 seeds (ok, maybe one for next year!)
Christmas raffle
Quiz sheets
Summer fun day
Steam Rally
Tea towels with faces drawn by children (good christmas pressie!) £3 each.
"Pre-school 100 Club" - a bit like a lottery, buy a ticket then there's a draw ever month, winner gets £20 I think.
Lunch club - £2.50 per child (takes a packed lunch from home), I collect ds 45minutes later than usual - very popular with the little ones, helps prepare for big school
If I heard that one of our pre-schools had some money stolen I would certainly make a donation to help replenish their coffers - perhaps a newsletter explaining this to parents would help if this hasn't already been done, state how much was stolen, and how much you need to raise every year - Ours is very good at keeping us in the picture and it does remind us how much financial help they need.
So sorry to hear of your misfortune, I do hope something good comes of it. Hope some of the above ideas help.
