help needed

i am hoping i can ask a question on behalf of a goood friend-she is a widow and has 2 daughters 20 and 18- the 18 year old is doing resits this year but not on a college course -My friends income has suddenly been cut because her child benefit has stopped-because her 18 year old is not registered in college.

her income has subsequently dropped by nearly 500 per month and needs urgent advice from you very knowledgable folk-

i thought because the benefit my friend was on is linked to be giving child benefit or not
as her 18 is not working and waiting to resit her exams independantly would there still be a case to get her child benefit reinstated

if not will her 18 year old need to sign on for JSA
even though resitting exams

my friends income is approx 19k she works full time and lives in own house would there be any other benfis she should get?
thanks in advance

if she's on 19k she's hardly on the breadline, why can't the 18 year old get a part time job and contribute to the household?

she earns 19k and has no dependant children, no she can't claim any benefits.
The daughter working part time and contributing to the house hold is about the best advice your gonna get

If the daughter is not on a course, then she won't be eligible for child benefit or any of the related benefits. She's not in a full tme course - part of the prerequisite for claiming at her age. If she's only doing resits, aren't they in January?
Advice re benefits - let's all realise that our children grow up, and we have at least 16 years advance warning of this (should they leave school at 16) - plan for your future, plan for your income after the children are no longer making you eligible for certain benefits.
Advice re benefits for the 18 yr old - if she goes and gets a job, at least part tme, she can contribute to the household by paying room and board to the parent, and also be bulding her own funds for the future.

The 'I am asking for benefits advice only please' comment - well, the girl is an independent adult - she should start behaving like one. Working and contributing to society is a BENEFIT of living in this country :)

Perhaps she could ask Jeremy Kyle *rollseyes*

Most people work for money rather than ask for handouts.
