Santander: Steer clear

I was with Alliance & Leicester for years, never any problems.
They were recently been taken over by Santander and it's been a disaster of titanic proportions.
1) in the systems merge, they got my address wrong. When I phoned up to correct it, they told me I had to go to the branch. When I went to the branch they said my address looked right on their screen. 6 phone calls and branch visits later still no joy.
2) meanwhile, all my bank and credit card statements were going missing, sent to the wrong address. A new cash card went the same way, to the wrong address
3) it took 2 months to finally get the cash card. 3 months later I am still waiting on the pin number, which has been ordered 3 times but has never arrived. I have had to drag my screaming baby to the bank branch every time I want cash
4) during the systems merge, my sort code was changed but nobody told me. I was setting up new direct debits using the wrong sort code and they failed
5) Santander current account direct debit to Santander credit card failed, and I was charged for it
6) all my direct debits and standing orders got mixed up in the merge
7) I am unable to delete a direct debit online for a loan that has now been paid off
8) I wrote a complaint to Santander weeks ago, no response whatsoever
STEER WELL CLEAR!!!!!!!

People in England with RBS accounts and in Scotland with Natwest accounts need to consider moving their accounts asap if they don't want to end up coping with the nightmare that is Santander.0
