Sky Talk 24/7 Services?

Has anyone heard of Sky Talk 24/7 and Sky Talk 24/7 International?

http://www.sky.com/skytalk247/

I don't know if it is even available to anyone yet, or if it is for new customers only. The offer seems to be much better than the current freetime and unlimited options.

I just happened to stumble upon the link when looking up current Sky Talk pricing.

  • I have signed up to Sky Tallk 24/7 International as we were spending 3p/min on long international calls. We expect to save quite a bit now even with the £5/month and 7p connection charge.
  • Calls to 0845/most 0870 are inclusive of the plan (7p connection charge per call). Just been told that it automatically disconnects you after 1 hour - suppose it stops one person hogging the phone

It introduces a new stealth charge though - a 7p per call connection fee even for calls which are inclusive!

Sets a nasty precedent which, I'm sure, other providers will latch onto and follow.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
  • For us it's great as we make long duration international calls. Use the mobile for UK calls. I wouldn't say the 7p connection charge is stealthly as it quite clear in the points. I disagree with "No time limit on how long you spend on the phone" as we were disconnected after 60 mins.

It seems a tariff that is certainly worth considering for those making frequent long duration international calls.

True, there is a 7p connection charge for all calls (including those on weekends and evenings) but having gone through my previous phone bills, I found that I would easily save around 10 quid each month by shifting to this tariff. Until today I used a 0.5p per min 0844 access number to make my international calls but my current tariff used to charge a 10p connection fee. Also this way of calling means you often pay for nothing when your call goes unanswered or is not reachable. The Sky 24/7 int tariff would charge you the connection fee only when your call actually gets through and someone answers.

Hence I have moved today to the Sky 24/7 international tariff from today and will dial international calls direct rather than use an access number. Even UK calls are cheap at 7p per call irrespective of duration. With NGN numbers like 0845/ 0870 too at 7p per call irrespective of duration, this tariff is not bad at all and certainly worth a look for many.
  • how do you get this i called up they said they don't offer this

That sounds fairly standard for 'agents' in a CS call centre - mushrooms.

7 pence connection charge is daylight robbery.

I don't pay any additional connection charge with my provider ( IDNet ) for any 0870/0845 or International calls.
