housing benefit-confusing situation

Hiya all,
i will try and explain as best i can,
currently we rent a 3 bed for our family of 5-my mother in law is quite ill and is wanting to come and live back in the same town as us so that my father in law can get a job and go back to work and so we are considering getting a house big enough for the 7 of us.
So the subject i need advice on currently we(myself and my partner) get some housing and council tax benefit-not full as he works and my in laws are on full housing and council tax benefit as father in law is out of work to look after his wife.
So how would this work if we were to find a house big enough for the 7 of us? Were not sure as none of us know anyone who has done a similar thing in the past so have nothing to compare it to if you see what i mean?
Thanks for reading x

I'd love a 7 bed house, but, alas can't afford one
Do you think the tax payer will help finance one for me too?Be happy, it's the greatest wealth

we dont want a 7(we only need one more bedroom than we currently have for them) bed house there will be 7 of us, and we are considering it as my mother in law cant be on her own, she is ill and needs someone with her full time-im not asking for loads of rent/council tax help i want to know how it works out. i'm sorry but if you cant be helpful and just want to assume things then please dont reply(i thought this was meant to be a help forum not a "have a dig" forum)welshmoneylover wrote: »I'd love a 7 bed house, but, alas can't afford one

Do you ever actually read posts or are you so full of self-importance that you just make it up as you go along?
So much for Be Nice to other Money Savers.
Nowhere did the OP say she wanted a 7 bed house, or that her family is fully funded by HB, they get some as her husband works full time.
Her in-laws currently get full HB, as her FiL is unable to work while caring for his sick wife. How inconsiderate is he, him staying at home to care for her is probably cheaper than having MiL in a care home.
If they can get a larger house, OP will look after MiL so FiL can return to work, I guess that HB will then not be payable as there will be 2 full time incomes, if there is some payable it probably won't be as much as is currently payable on 2 separate households.
So let's strip the OP naked & horsewhip her on the village green, she may be trying to save the tax payers a large amount of money.
OP depending on what your FiL will be earning you may not be eligible for HB, probably best to look into what his likely income will be, then running everything through http://www.turn2us.org.uk/benefits_search.aspx
or the Jobcentre website, you may be entitled to carers allowance etc.
I hope that everything works out for you.0 -
