bought a wii bundle but theres a fault with part of it.....

I bought a wii bundle on ebay with wii fit/balance board ets as Ive been wanting one for a while. It arrived by courier yesterday and upon opening it, the entire thing stunk of smoke (really gross as im a non smoker so notice it more) and everything was grubby, but baby wipes soon cleaned it up.
However the wii board seems to have a loose battery connector, ones a lot looser compared to the rest and looks like a battery has maybe leaked on it. I bought a pack of duracell batteries for it yesterday and they dont even register in it, the rechargables i charged overnight-same thing. My dad has had a look and thinks it's that connector not making proper contact. I have bought a couple of the battery packs to see if that makes any difference but they wont be delivered for couple days. I used some cheap batteries that I got for the kids toys and they worked for a while but soon died last night!!
i emailed seller last night-says they used cheapie poundland batteries the few times they used it and never had a problem. what should I do? I dont really wanna send the whole thing back as Im happy with everything i got, apart from this, but I dont really want to have to fork out to get it repaired when i was sold it as working order! would ebay consider partial refund? ive never had to do anything like this before???

eBay don't do partial refunds, it's up to the seller to agree to something.

If it is faulty, you are well within your rights to send it back, but other than that, there's not much else you can do if the seller won't consider a settlement themselves.
