    Because everyone's opinion on where to spend the money will be different. Yes, I can order the parts and build the thing myself, but I wanted to get other peoples take on where they would spend the money.

    So yes, you did miss the point.
    Okay, I just wasn't sure, apologies I was tired and probably should have worded that a little better.

    I'd have to agree with coxy17, A 775 Core 2 would be fine, chuck in 4 gigs of ram and a Cheapish motherboard, I feel most of it is down to personal preference though? Especially what you feel you need HDD and optical drive wise.

    £1000 definetely seems like alot though as you don't intend to use it for gaming

    OP owns a PS3 and 50 games..... once they see how much better PC gaming is they'll be using it for gaming :)
