To Refund or not to refund?

I sent a Bath gift set that someone bought from me on ebay and it was well wrapped and it had a bowl at the bottom of the gift set but she has got it today but the bowl is broke.
So what i would like to know is it down to me to refund her? we sent it by normal post.

Yes of course you need to refund.
Unfortunately breakables ar enot covered standard mail so you are unlikely to have a claim from RM either. You might want to ask your buyer if they will accept a partial refund and keep the bath goodies, or else you'll need to get the lot back from them with the packaging just in case you try for a claim.

you don't have a choice i'm afraid if you choose not to refund yourself they will open a pp claim and pp will make you refund them when they have sent the item back and you'll more than likely get yourself a neg to boot.0

Yes, you will have to refund her for the item and original postage (or see if she will accept a partial refund as suggested by soolin). Make sure the buyer returns the item first though, you will not have to cover postage for this, but in cases of breakages I always did as it seemed unfair to leave the buyer out of pocket.We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0

All been sorted now
She has told me she is happy for a part refund and i have told her to keep the item as she said she can still use the Bath items just not the Bowl.
She seems happy with that and she has left me good feedback so all sorted now so Many thanks for the Advice Guys
