I have just installed this in my house http://www.radflek.com/ £14.99 delivered for a 6 radiator pack.
It is approved by the Government, testing has been shown to reduce heat loss to outside walls.

All my rads are on outside walls - BUT all the house walls have cavity filling
Is it worth putting this foil behind the rads??0 -
I've had cavity wall insulation put in this year and new radiators. I only moved in in April though so haven't had the heating on yet.
I've still bought a roll of the radiator reflective stuff and put behind the rads that are on outside walls.
the insulation is so cheap from B&Q that it's worth it for me anyway, to try it.
I also used the stuff to insulate the back walls of my garage where the washing machine etc is. It's only a single skin wall of course and i don't want the washing machine icing up :eek:Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0 -
I always thought it was a waste of time till I used an infra-red thermometer on the other side of the wall from the radiator. Could clearly "see" the heat from the radiator. I used foil bubble wrap behind ours, and the wall behind is much cooler and I can't "see" it from the other side now. I have only used it on outside walls and the wall to our integrated garage (the one I tested). I'm sure the difference is small, but it definitely makes a difference.

Wow thanks to you all. Lots of information here to guide me.
Guess I'll be hitting the DIY shops over the weekend!
Thanks again0 -
Kitchen foil on corrugated cardboard does the job fine for the cheapest option - that's what my dad did but it does look amateurish!0
