message from ebay

Hi guys I have just received this in my ebay messages

Our records indicate that you recently sent an email to or received an email from ****** through the eBay email system (for example, you may have sent an email to this member through Ask Seller a Question or received an email from this member through Contact eBay Member).

Sometimes eBay accounts are used to send email solicitations for transactions outside of eBay, or to send unrelated questions in hopes that you will respond so that the other party can obtain your email address. We wanted you to be aware of the potential fraud risk these solicitations pose and encourage you to be cautious about the email you received from this member.

Please keep in mind, sales that take place outside of eBay are not eligible for any eBay or PayPal protective services and you run the risk of losing your money or your item if you complete these transactions. We would encourage you to review the eBay pages related to Fraud Protection at the address provided below for information on steps you can take to ensure that your transactions are successful:

I have taken out the name, but I cannot recall having any communication with the person they have said. Should I be concerned?

Thanks guys, Mandy
Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we should dance....

No don't worry I get this all the time, but this is because I report people who are wholesalers who constantly email me, through ask a question, to buy their cheap fake trainers...anyone who sells Nike trainers will know what I mean!"!!!!
Have you reprted a message? I don't know why they send this to the person who reported it as I was alarmed at first. Just ignore it.

Yeah, I reported a message that was SPAM and received this back.

Makes it sound like you are in the wrong - you should be thanked for helping eBay!

It just shows you exactly how closely ebay's systems watch you (for things that cost them money, not for things that cost YOU money!)

It appears that if someone is drawn to their attention for spamming, or sending dubious messages, they can quite easily track down everyone who has exchanged messages with that person and send out a warning message to everyone!

Yes but the daft thing is I'm the one is alerting ebay to the spammer, yet they send me an alert!

I said they watch closely, not that they were intelligent :)
