Jobseekers paid wrong amount?

I started my claim for Jobseekers on the 23rd September, and got a letter from Jobseekers saying ''I am pleased to tell you that we can pay you Jobseeker's Allowence from 23 September 2010. You will get £51.85 a week.'' Yesterday I got my first payment, but it was only £81.48. I signed on the day I claimed and I signed on the 6th so its been 3 weeks, shouldn't I have a full 2 weeks pay?

Thanks

You don't get paid for the first 3 days when you initially sign on
  • You haven't been unemployed for 3 weeks yet. JSA is paid in arrears up to the day you normally sign, so:

    date you claimed = 23/9/10
    'waiting days' 23-25/9/10
You have signed for the period up to 6/10/10
    payment period 26/9-6/10/10 =11 days
    51.85 x 11/7 = £81.48

I rang up on the 20th and my letter says i'll get it from the 23rd yes.

But as it started from the 23rd, its been over 2 weeks now so why wouldn't i of had the £103.70?

You signed on the 6 Oct. 23 Sep to 5 Oct is not "over two weeks". Buy a new calendar.

24 Sep was a Thursday. 6 Oct was a Wednesday. The first 'signing' on the Thursday was not a regular signing day. You have been put on a Wednesday cycle. You have not been signing on for two weeks. Okay, there appears to be a one day anomaly - I am not sure why you have been paid for 11 days rather than 12 days. But you are certainly not due a full two weeks amount.

please read again-I have calculated exactly above (and Kim-24th Sept was a Friday! Probably the date of the Work Focused Interview?)

However the best place to call if you don't agree with my dates/figures (as I don't have access to your actual claim) is to ring your Benefit Delivery Centre!)

i'm just confused, the person who delt with my claim told me it was his first day, he didn't tell me much and messed up all my dates which has left me confused.

if this is the case, when should i next be paid and how much will it be?

If you next sign on 20/10/10, you should get your payment on Monday 25/10 and that will be 2 full weeks money for the period 7/10-20/10
