Can I dispute defaults as a result of mis-sold PPI?

Hi folks,

I was wondering if anyone has any experience of disputing defaults as part of reclaiming mis-sold PPI?

I have several accounts to which I had massive PPI premiums added. I was under the impression when I took out the loans and credit cards that I had to take out the PPI or I would not be granted the credit. I am in the process of reclaiming the PPI, with 3 different claims in with the FOS at the minute.

However, I hit a rough patch about 4 years ago and ended up defaulting on several of these accounts. If the FOS uphold my claims, can I ask for the defaults to be overturned as well? I believe that had the outstanding balances and monthly repayments not been (unfairly) inflated as a result of the PPI, I would have kept my head above water and not defaulted on the accounts.

Any idea how the FOS would view this?

You can try... don't know if FOS would be able to deal with it though?? Also this is assuming you actually win with them so its best to put to FOS in your complaint (additional information perhaps) now.
