Refunding stolen money. Thank You Halifax Bank.

On Friday I had £200 stolen from the cash point without even realizing it had happened!!!
A bloke came up to me and started tapping me on the shoulder demanding 50p. Then he came round the other side and put a newspaper over the screen and another bloke started shouting was I using the cashpoint etc. I shouted at them to F... off. quickly cancelled the transaction and took my card.
I started a thread in the Arms and was advised to report to the Police which I did. Later in the thread Oblivion suggested I check my balance and that's when I noticed £200 had been taken before I withdrew £50 a little later.
Anyway I rang the bank very distressed and the gentleman I spoke to was lovely and reassuring, however the fraud department was closed so I rang them on Saturday.
By Monday I had a phone call from them and my money was refunded. I am so impressed by their swift action!! :j:j Thank you Halifax!:j:j
This is obviously a well rehearsed scam for them to be able to get my money so quickly without me even realizing so please take care at the cashpoint everyone!!

Thank goodness you got it sorted £200 is a lot of money to lose
Do you think they were watching your pin number and the machine was cloned?
It could happen to any of us and is one reason i only ever get cash back from supermarkets or use cash machines inside banks covered by cctv0 -
Thank you. No the money was physically taken from the machine without me even realizing! Apparently I was doing a balance check and then they must have pressed the £200 button when they put the newspaper over the screen.
I prefer to get money out of the machine rather than cash back as I like to check my balance and like to know where I am, but perhaps I'll check online more instead and get lump sums in cash back from now on.
More praise to the Halifax my replacement card has just turned up today as well! Again very speedy service! Here dead we lie because we did not choose

Thanks for the tip, still a little confused how they managed it, obviously it goes on or Halifax wouldnt have refunded.
- Card goes in,
- you enter pin,
- you press balance check button?
- balance appars on screen?
- guy1 taps you on shoulder, got 50p mate blah blah blah by this time machine asking do you want another transaction?
- guy2 comes along as a futher distraction "you using the machine mate" blah blah blah, while guy1 presses yes, then withdrawal, then £200 notes. (could be the same button 3 times)
- you tell guys to !!!! off, maybe even pressing cancel button on machine?
- Machine spits out card and says "Please remove card and wait for cash"
- You walk away disgusted at the two guys not noticing what it says on the screen as your more conerned with the two morons
- guy1/guy2 helps himself to 200 notes

Doesn't an ATM usually spit the card out before money is produced?Thinking critically since 1996....0 -

That's true but I also pressed cancel and took the card so presumably the card had been spat out before they got the money. Obviously I was unaware they had pressed the £200 button and taken the money in the meantime! Here dead we lie because we did not choose

Exactly what Post Office was it? There are hundereds, if not thousands of them in the UK. People need to know that this ATM has been targetted by fraudsters."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -

Oh I didn't realize I was expected to give my precise location! This is a scam that could take place anywhere. It is not target specific!:)Here dead we lie because we did not choose
