Just plugged my old (well its not that old) digital camera into my new laptop to upload the photos and nothing happened.
The laptop didnt recognise it at all. so I removed the camera and looked to see if the photos were definaltey on there and for some stange reason my camera used to be english and now thinks its japanese. All the menus are in Japanese. I have no idea how to change it back. Cant find anything in the manual.
Why would it do this? Any idea how I can change it back to english. thanks
Its an olypmus x42 and the laptop is Toshiba Satelitte C650

Instruction manual will tell you how to set language. It may be a matter of counting how many options down and across you have to go, but shoudl work out.
Also, instructions may have info on a master reset. That may help, but you will lose any pre-saved settings.0 -
Maybe the camera has been off for some time, and has reverted to its default settings, youll have to reset it to UK.
Trnsferring photos: Why don't you just remove the SD card from the camera and plug it directly into the SD card slot on the laptop (assuming its got one). Usually easier than having to look for USB drivers for the camera. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
When you plug the camera into the laptop with a usb cable are there any options appearing on the camera screen?0

will try the SD card thing, that sounds a lot easier thank you.
If cant change it back to english I suppose its not a massive deal as I know all the functions I need. (flash on/Flash off). Will have a another good read of the manual though see if I can find anything.
It was just an odd thing to happen. It was only just on last Friday as we were on holiday and wanted to upload my holiday snaps this morning.Happy days

Removing the card is the best option in future. I have had so much hassle with drivers and cameras requiring their own software, that inevitably somewhere along the line tries to sell you something you dont want!!
Best of luck and dont forget to back up!0
