in Credit cards
I'm in a situation of needing to pay for a lot of goods upfront unexpectedly, but am having to put spending on my current account on hold until getting some extra income in the new year - perfect time to be using a credit card, really.
But I cut mine up ages ago. It was from my main bank, didn't have a great rate of interest, and I didn't want to be using it at the time.
Now I want to get hold of a new card fairly quickly, I'm wondering whether it would be better to simply ask my bank to send me a replacement card, make the purchases and just plan to pay it off in the spring, or apply for a new and more suitable 'purchases' one. If that sounds like a no-brainer, the only reason I am worried is that I have just bought and moved into a new house so will have to put 0 years and 0 months at this address on my application.
There is also the potential worry that a tenant here had (very) bad credit recently and we are still getting letter from bailiffs. We have put our names on to the electoral role and registered with the council, so should there be any problems? I know that credit ratings are linked to individuals not addresses, but I don't want to mess up mine by applying for a new card from this address at at time when it could be queried in some way - should I just do it anyway?
thanks!

If you haven't made any applications recently (aside from your mortgage presumably) then won't hurt to try a new application with a new company.
Presumably you have some credit accounts on your file that you have brought from your previous address? (so have some longer running credit agreements appearing on your credit file?).
If you have literally just moved then it might be worth ordering a copy of your credit file giving your current and previous addresses, this will link the 2 together on your credit file and you can then be certain that when the new credit card co search they will see your previous history.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
