  • I use it on our carpet, I think it works. (Trouble is you get so used to the doggie smells that you don't always notice them and have to reley on someone telling you and your friends might just be too polite to be honest.)
I'm planning to mix some in with some comercial carpet powder to make it go further, but haven't got round to buying a new tub yet.

I also worry about SDS (smelly dog syndrome) on my carpet, I have one dog. I found a recipe, on here I think, but haven't used it yet as said carpet is covered with 'stuff' to sell on ebay. I can't find the notebook where I wrote it (probably under all the 'stuff' ) so this is it from memory:

1 cup bicarb, 1 cup cornflour, some drops of essential oil. Mix up, sprinkle on carpet, work in and leave overnight. Vacuum off.

Also I read Aggie (from Kim and...) advising someone with SDS in their car to use bicarb so it must be good!

    Anyone else actually used this?

I use the bicarb and essential oil mix as described by bizzylizzy although I don't put cornflour in it. I find it works very well.

I used bicarb first, then vacuumed it off,for the doggy smell does seem to work.Had read through some old MSE tips re buying bicarb and was suggected buying a box from boots was cheaper. Its no longer the case. For me I found the "supercook" tubs in supermarkets best value.Anyone else know where to get a bigger box cheaper?

I buy it in huge tubs from Makro but I haven't seen it cheaper than Tesco in the mainstream shops.

I use it on our carpets and it seems to work well, plus never really did like the overpowering smells of the shop brought carpet cleaners. This way i am free to leave it plain or add my own oils. We don't have dogs but i do have three cats and three kids LOL and it gets rid of their smells.
