Help with using Paypal to be something from someone.

I know i had a similar thread in the past with me buying something from someone on Ebay outside Ebay. That situation sorted itself out since they did send a replacement out to me. Again i just want to make sure i don't do anything wrong or that would allow me to be conned.

Some of you may know the website Discogs.com. Well there is an item on there which i wanted, i had seen it sold on Ebay for a lot of money and got outbid. Thank goodness i got outbid and thought about Discogs because a seller there had the same item for just over half the price it went on Ebay. So i messaged the seller and asked about P&P prices and it seemed fair enough. He told me to make an offer for a certain amount and he would accept it and i could just pay him. So i made the offer and the listing gets taken down. So i asked him and he said i took it down because you made the offer so if you pay me to my email i will post it asap. I wanted it done officially through the website but i can understand him maybe wanting to avoid Paypal and Discogs fees.

I mentioned an invoice and i don't know if i should just say i am having trouble sending money right now, could you send me an invoice with all the details on it and then i can pay you. I am a little skeptical at just sending someone $40 and then there is no comeback and i've basically lost my money. I know in the other thread i created about a different item i was told i had Paypal protection but i think that was different because it was an invoice and i wasn't sending it as a 'gift'. Also that was a company, this is just a regular person i guess trying to make a living.

To be protected you must be paying for stated goods as you need to be able ot prove to aypal that you were expecting 'goods' to be delivered before you can out in a claim.

You can pay direct, just add on to the payment exactly what you are buying.

So i need to say payment for 'goods' and in the message state what it is i am paying for?

You must be very clear and specific in naming the goods and it must go as a full payment, not a gift.

So how do i send a full payment if all they have given me is their email address? And do i give the specific details in the message box? Do i write it in the title part, or the big message box?
