Digital Camera for a kiddie

Hello
i am after getting a cheap-ish digital camera for child as a present. Obviously don't want to spend a bomb as kids can easily lose or damage stuff (or get bored and move onto the next gadget). SBut at the same time, i want something that will take a decent enough photo as the child i am buying it for is really getting into photography.
Can anyone make any suggestions please?
