We don't have a shower but might try to steam it with the iron.... obviously from a distance...

If you're not sure whether it's silk then be very careful about steaming it - if any water droplets get onto it they could cause watermarks which basically will not come out. Could you not handwash it in the bath using a specialist detergent?

Use a tea towel or a sheet etc between material and iron. Do you have a steam generator iron ?

    Hi Jane

Its def not silk hun. Re handwashing I would be ok with that but ironing afterwards with the level of detail freaks me out!!

LOL! Fair enough, I think I'd find that task a little daunting too :o

  • Hmm. I'd be careful about trying to clean such an intricate dress yourself, eeeek! You'd have to be very brave.

Where you do you live? My bridal shop has recommended a little independent place, where my dress will be going after the wedding - if you're in manchester that might work / be cheaper / negotiable? Can PM details.

Maybe others in other cities have had independent places recommended and could share?

Cheers Savvy Student Iam just off J24 of the M1 :) we have some independents near me but just worried about trusting them, the idea of a mainstream one is that they would prolly have more insurance if things went wrong.... *sigh* decisons decisions
